Openness, Flexibility Spawn Innovation
Providing management consulting services, strategic planning, project management, and leadership/small business coaching to nonprofits, faith-based, small business and higher education.
Sometimes it’s hard to see the big picture and easy to become overwhelmed or feel like you're lacking that intangible creative spirit when it comes to being innovative. But not to lose heart – it’s all about people, being open and flexible to new ideas, encouraging, supporting and rewarding new ideas. Even if it’s not a break-through idea, commit to breaking down artificial barriers to new ideas. Innovation can come in all types of shapes and sizes, and it may take the form of a small incremental change – but if it improves your process, product, or service in a meaningful way – innovation is taking place.
How can you foster this creative thinking in your business or organization? By creating a culture of open thinking, a culture that is willing to listen to, and test ideas – experimenting and failing fast. You also establish innovational thinking through the questioning process. How does this work now – how can it be better? How did the competition do it? How can we meet this need in the marketplace? How can we be better, faster, more responsive, agile, ultimately – you must continually be seeking improvement.
